EP11 | T.O.P’s ANOTHER DIMENSION: A Different Way of Seeing Yourself
Over the past few months, I kept returning to T.O.P’s ANOTHER DIMENSION. Then I heard BE SOLID live, and something in the work shifted for me. This episode is about music, sound, scent, vulnerability and strength—and about how changing our perspective can sometimes change the way we understand another person, a piece of work, and even ourselves.
Another Dimension: When a Different Perspective Changes What We See
There are some pieces of music we listen to once and move on from. And then there are others we keep returning to—not necessarily because we understand them immediately, but because something in them keeps asking us to listen again.
For me, T.O.P’s ANOTHER DIMENSION became one of those works.
Over the past few months, I found myself returning to it again and again. Then I heard BE SOLID live. The experience changed the way I understood the music, but it also made me think about something larger: how quickly we decide what something means before we have really spent time with it.
What Changes When We Look Again?
Sometimes our first understanding of a person, a situation, or even ourselves is incomplete.
We see things from where we are standing at that particular moment—with the experiences, expectations, disappointments and emotions we happen to carry.
But when we move, the picture can move with us.
That does not mean the past disappears. It simply means another perspective becomes possible.
Listening to ANOTHER DIMENSION reminded me of this.
There are different layers inside a creative work: vulnerability and strength, darkness and beauty, pain and gratitude. They do not necessarily cancel each other out. Sometimes they exist at the same time.
And perhaps people are like that too.
Sound, Scent and Memory
Music has always been more than sound to me.
Sometimes a song has a temperature. A colour. A place. Even a scent.
While listening to this album, I found myself thinking about incense and ritual—the small sensory details that change the way we enter a space and experience a moment.
Our senses often remember things before we can explain them intellectually.
A melody can bring us back to a city.
A scent can return us to a particular period of our lives.
A voice can suddenly remind us of who we once were.
This is why I remain interested in the relation… [truncated for model]
